Scott E. Deeter
President and Chief Executive Officer, Ventria Bioscience
Ventria Bioscience is a plant-made pharmaceutical company developing affordable life saving medicines. Ventria's products include Lactiva and Lysomin which are products that have been clinically proven to help children recover faster from diarrhea. These products are the first commercial healthcare products utilizing plants as a factory for production of biopharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Ventria, Scott led the startup and development of several successful products and businesses for Cargill and Koch Industries. At Cargill, Scott led the startup and commercialization of a plant-made biologics business unit that commercialized human health products derived from soybeans. He formed and led a strategic alliance between Cargill and F. Hoffmann-La Roche that commercialized several plant-made biologics, including natural vitamin E, tocopherols, phyto-sterols and a biopharmaceutical intermediate. In addition, Scott served as President and CEO of CyberCrop, a venture-backed software company.
Scott started his career in the Technology and Life Sciences Group of Salomon Brothers, a Wall Street Investment Bank that is now part of Citigroup.
Scott earned a BSc in Economics from University of Kansas, an MBA from University of Chicago, and an MSc in Economics from London School of Economics.
He is a board member of the Biotechnology Industry Organization's (BIO) Food and Agriculture Section Governing Board and Chairman of BIO's Emerging Plant Technologies Policy Committee. He is also a board member of Edge Integration, Altergy Systems and a member of the American Council on Germany.
