Edwin Quattlebaum, PhD
Co-Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, MetaMorphix, Inc.
Dr. Edwin Quattlebaum is currently Co-Chairman, President and CEO of MetaMorphix, Inc., a privately held life sciences company, which is developing products based on livestock genomics and growth factors for improving the global food supply and human and animal health. Dr. Quattlebaum has been with MetaMorphix since 1998.
Dr. Quattlebaum has more than 25 years of agricultural industry experience, much of it within the biotechnology sector. He served as President and CEO of Biosys, a leading biological pesticide company. Dr. Quattlebaum worked with Rhone-Poulenc, a French pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical company, where he held several key executive positions including Global Business Manager for Foliar Insecticides. He began his professional career with Union Carbide Ag Products Company where he served in several commercial and technical positions including Director of Development.
Dr. Quattlebaum currently serves on the Food and Agricultural Governing Board of BIO and was a member of BIO's Board of Directors from 2000-2004, a member of BIO's Executive Committee and Vice Chairman of BIO's Food and Agriculture Governing Board from 2001-2003. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Tech Council of Maryland/MdBIO, the advisory board for SC BIO, and the board of InsectiGen, Inc. an Athens, Georgia-based biotechnology company. Dr. Quattlebaum received a B.A. in Biology from Catawba College, Salisbury, NC; and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Entomology with a specialization in insect pathology from Clemson University.
